Posted by Hello

Today my family and I went to Polonezköy to have lunch. We found a very nice hotel/restaurant and had lunch in their garden. I should admit Polonezköy chickens are very tasty though one might question if this justifies the long ride. Anyway, we ate till we explode:))

2nd Day: History & Science...

The next day was also hectic. I first visited the old town center, where i dared to take the only pictures of myself since i didnt dare to give it to anyone. i guess the town center was cute but the architecture did not really appeal to me. The city museum is a waste of money, since everything is in German. It was a very common problem in Frankfurt. Everything is in German, and unfortunately i realized i did not know German as much as i thought i knew:( The trains were a real pain in this context because on the ticket machines there were some names of places (or routes maybe?) but not the names of the stops!!! it is the stupidest thing ever. Also i had read in interrail journals people’s advices on not buying train tickets because they are never checked. Well I got checked 3 times in 2 days… Good thing I am an honest girl or I would end up being a poor girl.

Anyway, after that I took a walk near the Main, and then walked a really long way to the Wissenshaft und Technik Museum, which tranlates into Science and Technic Museum, and which has nothing to do with either of them. The keeper let me in with a student ticket after asking where i am from (non EU citizens have to pay full fare). It was full of optical illusions and that was it. What a misleading name that was!
Next Ivisited the roof the Main Turm. I went up to the 96th floor (I think) where there was a magnificent view of Frankfurt.

After that I met with my colleauge and gave him a quick tour of Frankfurt before we left for our business triphotel.

It was the most amazing room that I’ve ever stayed at (and I stayed at Magic Life der Club World!). I really enjoyed myself for two nites. The business trip also proved to be very fruitful. We gathered nice ideas to be used...

Even thinking and reminiscing about this trip makes me very happy. At first I was very dissapointed that I was not going to meet my friends and be all alone and even considered not going early. But being the stubborn person that i am, I am very happy that I did go.

Next, in the horizon there is a training in France, either in December or February, and I will have two weekends to explore. I am thinking of dedicating one to Paris and one to Geneva. I am also hoping that my boy will be able to join me in my discovery of Paris. We'll see how that will turn out to be...

1st Day: Nature...

Posted by Helloin the first day i went to the Frankfurt zoo, which was just amazing and i made a short documentary(!) movie of the shoots i made there. Next i went to the Natural History Museum, where i fulfilled a dream of seeing a dinosour fossil.. The T-Rex was huge and scary, but to my luck i had ran out of batteries so i only have postcards of it. I have the mammoths, though.

After spending hours there, i went to the Palmengarten, which was an unbelievable garden. It had glass houses where they generate other climates and those climates’ plants live there. I found again the opportunity to row a boat in a lake (after the Lake Borghese in Rome, which has no match due to its beautiful temple!).

In Germany there are many girl magazines for 1€ so i got a couple of them and read one at the shades of the Palmengarten, to rest my feet after the crazy day… Then suddenly it hit me that it is Saturday, and in stupid lazy Europe everyplace is closed on Sundays!!! It is very funny actually I was in a shop at its closing time and bells ring heheeh.. Anyway, i had to rush to Zeil Strasse, where i found Zara to be on sale and bought make up that is not present in Turkey for really funny prices. I also found the perfume i loved so i was sooo happy. Then i had a nice meal at Pizza Hut which happened to be my savior in Frankfurt since i had no idea about the food on the menus of other stores. I of course returned to my hotel before dark fell since i was an alone girl…

2 Days Alone in Germany...

Posted by Helloi’ve been very busy. First i had the Germany trip i’ve been muttering about at the end of July. It was the most adventrous act of my life, since i went to a place that i did not know, i did not speak the language of, and reserved a hotel through the internet at, all by myself:) i should admit i got really really scared at the hotel in the first night, i kept the bathroom lights on and a chair behind the door both nights. But the mornings were awesome.. i had 4 days of sightseeing in just two days. Best thing is, contrary to our Italy trip, i had no time to plan ahead. So the first morning i went to a bookshop at the train station, bought a guide and made my plan. Frankfurt is a beautiful city, i have even discovered a street i would be very happy to live in:

Fausto Zonaro's Exhibition

Today we went to visit the Fausto Zonaro Exhibition at Dolmabahçe Palace. For those who don't know him, Fausto Zonaro was an Italian artist who was appointed as the imprial palace artist ("saray ressamı") by Sultan Albülhamid. His masterpieces include portraits, historical war scenes and Istanbul scenery.

It had been a year since the last time I'd been to the Dolmabahçe Palace. The last time, I was working at the Indian Consulate:)) Such happy times:)) Below is a beautiful fountain from the palace:
